'Tis the Season
September 11, 2024
Crunching your budget numbers is no jolly holiday, but here are 5 questions to simmer on
I just ordered my second pumpkin-spiced latte this week as a comfort source going into the cumbersome 2025 budget season.
Labor Day is over and my golf game is winding down, while annual planning is cranking up the next couple of months. It’s time for us all to brace ourselves mentally, emotionally and physically for the onset. Yes, sipping aromatically-pleasing beverages or watching our favorite football team will help ease the season, but so will a dose of strategic thinking as the daylight grows shorter and your demands surge taller.
When you look ahead to 2025 and what is most important, consider how communication weaves into your seasonal playbook. Ask yourself these five questions:
1. Would adding internal (employees) and external (customers, policymakers, media) strategic communication help my company reach its goals?
2. Would I gain more time, and my department enhance its visibility, if I focused on communication strategy in 2025?
3. Would communication training be a good professional development opportunity for some of my team members?
4. Do I need a trusted source who could develop an annual communication plan and partner with me on my own professional goals?
5. Does my department – and my company – need preparation and training to effectively communicate in a potential crisis? (Saving the big question for last)
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, consider finding a spot in your 2025 budget for communication strategy services. Sometimes the support of an outside partner can provide the extra help or specific experience that allows your team to do what it does best. Visit thinkwixted.com to get you thinking.
Oh, and feel free to sip your hot beverage as you contemplate – because ‘tis the season for all things productive.
